THE REST OF THE STORY

Paul Harvey often used the phrase “the rest of the story” to introduce some missing part of a story that would bring clarity to things.
When Elisha’s servant saw the vast army surrounding them, what he saw in the natural was very real, just not the whole story.  So Elisha asked God to open the eyes of his servant to see the rest of the story (picture). (2 Kings 6:13-20)  We need to ask God to open our eyes to see the rest of the story/picture, part of the story/picture that we are unable to see.  We need our eyes opened to that unseen realm.

So what is really going on around us?    Perhaps we should ask God to open our eyes to the “rest of the story.”   As we do perhaps we will see Jesus in a new way or have greater understanding of a scripture.  Or perhaps we will see the angels of God at work.  Or maybe we would see angels waiting to work but not yet released because we have not called out to God.
Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
I personally am asking God to open my eyes to the rest of the story, by personalizing this  prayer,  which Paul prayed for  the Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:15-20 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

RELATIONSHIP AND REVELATION

John is often referred to as John the Beloved.  In the Gospel of John, he often refers to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.”  John had a close relationship with the Lord Jesus.  He was one of the three that Jesus chose to be with Him on certain occasions.

(Mark 5:37-Little girl raised from the dead; Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2 Mount of Transfiguration; Mark 14:33-Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus went aside to pray)  John was leaning upon Jesus at the Last Supper.  John was at the cross with Mary, the mother of Jesus and Jesus gave to John the responsibility of taking care of His mother.

John13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
John 21:7  Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord.
John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
John 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Daniel was also called greatly beloved by the angel of God.

Daniel 10:11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
Daniel 10:19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.

Both of these men were given great revelation, especially concerning the end times.  It is important to have a very close love relationship with the Lord Jesus in order to be entrusted with great revelation.  I believe in these last days God desires to have a close relationship with His people.  I believe He also desires to bring revelation to His people and open to us the mysteries of the kingdom for this hour.
