Jesus Understands

Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 2:17-18 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Jesus was tempted in all points the Greek word for "tempted" means to test, scrutinize, entice, discipline. In other words Jesus went through a lot. He is God and yet He became a man. He put on flesh and bones, walked on the earth and experienced all the feelings and emotions we do. He was mocked. He was lied about. He was raised by a “stepfather” so to speak, Joseph, and his mother Mary. He experienced the ridicule of being considered an illegitimate child. On and on I could go.

Sometimes we may think God is beyond understanding what we have been through or how we really feel as humans. But He does. The man Christ Jesus is seated on the throne with His father today interceding on our behalf as a priest who is touched by the feelings of our “infirmities.”
